BRDC Single Seater Championship
2002 - What the organisers
say:
The BRDC Single Seater Championship
is now firmly established as THE logical
and cost-effective entry-level single
seater Championship for aspiring drivers.
As the highest level of racing programme
operated by the famous Silverstone
Race School, this Championship makes
full use of our ability to provide
professionally prepared single seater
racing cars, along with the highest
level of driver coaching available
anywhere.
Some other categories claim to offer
a level playing field BUT if cars
are run by different teams, and significant
adjustments to the cars' set-up are
permitted, then the equipment provided
WILL differ and this will influence
the eventual results as much as the
drivers' inherent ability. In our
case, by running all of the cars
from under one roof, and providing
an identical set-up on every car,
this programme provides a GENUINELY
level playing field where the drivers'
ability dictates the results achieved.
The philosophy driving this is that
we are looking to find the best driver
- of any nationality or background
- whom we will then support. At this
level it should not matter if the
driver understands how to set up a
complex single seater car with adjustable
everything - we are not looking for
a race engineer! We also believe that
the results of the races should be
dictated by the drivers' ability and
not be directly related to the budget
available to them. therefore nobody
can 'buy' a faster car or a more powerful
engine in this Championship. When
you add to this the fact that highly
experienced instructors are employed
to attend EVERY test session and race
in order to provide expert coaching
and advice, you can see that this
is quite simply the most cost-effective
Championship available anywhere in
the sport at this level.
A 16 round Championship with lots
of testing available, points for pole
position and fastest lap in addition
to final race positions, and the opportunity
to 'drop' up to four scores from your
final points tally ensures that you
have every opportunity to prove yourself
during the season.
