A new Internet company has just taken up residence in Telford's flagship office development, the Plaza. e-know.net aims to create 40 jobs in its first year of trading. If the company grows as predicted, over 100 staff could eventually be employed. Negotiations are also under way with two other Internet companies, which are also set to move into the Plaza. e-know.net gained a multi-million pound investment from 3i, Europe's leading venture capital company, to provide facilities to small and medium-sized companies geared to satisfy their business requirements through an on-line business information bureau.
The company will provide a business knowledge database, which can give rapid solutions to customer service issues and business applications such as manufacturing control, finance and distribution systems via the Internet. Telford was selected as the ideal base for e-know.net because of its high-tech business environment and accessibility to a large number of forward-thinking SMEs.
"Telford offered us a mix of good-quality office space, excellent telecommunications infrastructure and access to our target market," said chief executive Mr David Redwood. "The fact that so many other IT and call centre companies were located here was a big plus as we know we will be able to tap into a skilled and loyal workforce". "It is not just large companies that can benefit from real-time business information via the Internet." "e-know.net is providing a business-to-business application environment via the Internet on a monthly fee per user basis for SMEs that will give them application software facilities that have traditionally only been financially viable for the larger company."
"This will enable the SME to compete far more effectively in today's continuing and changing business world."
